I'm unwinding tonight by baking Gingerbread mean. Actually, Gingerbread Teddy Bears. I've never succeed in making Gingerbread before. My previous attempt turned out like rocks. these are chewy and spicey. :-)

Mr Bear just called - they're going to get something to eat. Tonight was the first of the Holiday concerts. I'm ushering tomorrow and needed a night to unwind and get ready to travel. mostly I just needed some down time.

Baking is something I've done when I'm stressed since high school. I have no idea how it started. Final exams in college was announced with a bevy of bake goods which I peppered the campus with. There's something immensely soothing about the whole process - the precision of measuring, the order things are mixed in, chilling the dough to roll it out - I love that things turn out well if you do things well. I know some people stress about cooking but I like the predictability of it - and the non-importance of the outcome. There's no drama to baking something that turns out poorly. You either eat it or you don't - no big deal.

And how cool is my kitchen aide mixer?! It's mixing frosting as I type. :-)

You know, Joey, I like and have always liked the way that you write your entries ending with the "things I am grateful for" and the "things I want today". It's very cool.

LJ ate my response to your picture post - I was going to say you have a "Walt Whitman" look going which is pretty cool. You need to wear a long wool coat and come over to cocoa. ;-)

Shhh. Don't tell, because it is a secret... but the Pillsbury people who make the "slice and bake dough", in the little tubes in the refrigerated section, make a gingerbread dough where all you have to do is unwrap it from it's package and roll it out and cookie cut to your hearts content.
But the most important part is that it is the best gingerbread cookie dough I have ever tasted.
Seriously.
But it does take away from the mixing process
And I'm jealous of your mixer. They are awesome.
:)

NOW you tell me! lol I actually looked for it yesterday - we had a Christmas party in the hotel room and I made cookies. They didn't have it.

Yeah, my mixer is one of my favorite things :-)
