I spent most of last night in the studio working on a 36 x 36 collage. I made a small dent in it but am so into it. I don't want to work today except on that piece.

Sometimes I find that spending a lot of time working on collages makes me feel like I'm tripping on acid the next day. I have this heightened attention to detail and every thing seems so much more intense (in a good way). I suppose that's why my drug explorations didn't go too far. In college, I felt like this a lot anyway.

So, I am totally feeling my wings* today. I don't want to waste it in my cube but I really need to be on a conference call I'm representing my boss on at 3. I'm considering going home after lunch and taking the call form the studio.

I have a lot of work to do, but I know I won't be any more productive here than I will be there. Plus, I can easily tear paper while talking...

Hey, you can justify just about anything. [eg]

* "Feeling My/Your Wings" is a phrase I use for the times you feel like you're not merely mortal or earth bound. You feel like someone's sprinkled you with fairy dust and you could fly or do anything. It's like a more fabulous form of giddy, I guess. I have no idea where I go the phrase from.

'feeling your wings'...I like it! :)

As for your collage, what media are you using? Is it photo collage?

An old dictionary and "photo black" from magazines. I like the way black gets different tints when printed in a color magazine.

There's something a little creepy when I think of it objectively - me hunched down in the basement cutting a dictionary into little strips. LOL

I go tthis image of Bob Geldoff in The Wall after he's trashed the hotel room, making some insane order out of the broken glass, Coke cans, furniture bits and chicken wings.

I'e always wanted to ask you...what is your job anyway? What do you do?

LOL That's not too far off.

I'm a web editor. It used ot be a lot of fun, now it's more like data entry. We're automating everything.

I liked coding web pages a lot. It was like a puzzle or another language. Creating new sites was like telling a story to someone.

Now, everything is a standardized format across the company and we're moving all that into a database. Most companies are doing the same.

"Nothing gold can stay", right?

Rationalizing is just the best thing ever! Next to dark chocolate, that is.
And marzipan.

Milk chocolate and marzipan.

I'm too wimpy for dark chocolate - it tastes too much like coffee.
