The image I'm looking for from "Alice in Wonderland" is either from the cartoon or a figment of my imagination. I was shocked to realize how many of the images I had from the books I read growing up were actually mental and not illustrations in the books themselves. The images/memories are so vivid.

It's also a little disturbing how "soft" the illustration of children's books has gotten. It's all muted colors and washes. Apparently, children must be protected from strong color and bold design. [rolls eyes] Most of the books I've bought the kids were classics ("Curious George", "Madeline", etc) that had escaped redoing, or "Olivia". I was amazed at the number of versions of "Alice" there were and how the illustrations managed to over look any of the scary/truly creepy parts.

Mr Bear might be able to get us tickets to the Chita Rivera show from his job. It means we're going to skip Phillip Glass at Galapagos. I'm Ok with that. mr Bear offered to go to Chita on Friday night and play Saturday by ear but I said No. We'll spend Friday frantically fighting traffic to get in for the show and Saturday we won't go in for the Glass thing and I'll eb annoyed. I know how we are and I'd rather just know I'm not going than hope we will and be disappointed. I'm not being melodramatic - just pragmatic.

Oy. Sears wants $95 to come look at our treadmill. unlike a washer or dryer, you have to pay $95 whether you fix it or not. A new treadmill is about $300 or 400. That sucks.

Ok, time to get with scanning kids book covers...

what's the scene?

(Alice is my favorite, in books and Disneyfied...mostly for the cat.)

When she's getting too big for the room and she's doubled over and pressed against the walls.

I sa wa recipe (in a book in the book store so i'm just remembering it) for a Cheshire cat sandwich. You cut two slices of bread into grins, then slather them with peanut butter. Big cubes of apple are used to make "teeth" when you make it a sandwich. It was cuter than it sounds.

yes but she's bent over like she's tying her shoe. I've come to think it was the movie - I'm going to watch it today and try to screen capture it if it is.

What's shaking by you? How is school? We start Monday.
