I spent all of yesterday in the city running through a series of galleries and walking from Times Square to ChinaTown and back again. My feet still hurt, but it was totally worth it.

The weather was perfect and I saw some wonderful art. If you're in New York, I recommend the "Terror Vision" show at EXIT Art. There were some really strong pieces there.

In a bit of odd syncronicity, I wandered into a gallery show of Basquait, Picasso and Bacon. That fit into my recent reading/film watching surprisingly well. Sitting outside, eating my apple it struck me how cool it must be to have a show in a gallery. I mean to see your work in a public context must be really exciting (and nerve wracking).

I bought a great necklace at Girl Props, two Guatemalan shirts and some books. The books were probably not such a great choice (even if they were startlingly cheap) since they were big and hard bound and heavy. I carried them the rest of the way to Chinatown and all the way back to 42nd. I think my arms are longer today.

Dinner was pizza at the pizza place I usually had lunch at when I worked in Soho. The neighborhood has totally changed, but that pizza place is still there. I ate it out on the park bench like I used to and wondered at how different my life is now. Life is one amazing journey if you stop to look back.

Not much else to report, which is good since I'm sort of babbling. I miss Mr Bear and can't wait to see him tomorrow in Montreal. Today, I'm going to the beach, I think.

Things I Am Grateful For
White Pizza
Mr Bear's love of choral music
Having enough
Tessa's snoring this morning
This time off - it's been wonderful
The ability to move forward, even if it's scary

Things I Want Today
New music for the trip
For the beach to not be crowded.

Too Much

I spent about 1 1/2 hours at the beach today and succeeded in getting burnt on my back. Not bad, but still not good. I guess I'll be wearing a shirt to work in the yard since I can't afford more sun on my back today. I know, not a big deal, but I'm so not feeling clothes lately and it's so nice out!

This afternoon will be a lot of catching up on house stuff and maybe a haircut (I could use one). I'm a bit disappointed that i can't reach the light fixture in the foyer with the ladder. I guess I'll have to borrow a bigger ladder or something. The fixture's not that dusty so it can wait. no one notices it needs cleaning but me anyway.

OK, time to get some grub and get on with my domesticity. ;-)

The Windows on the first floor are clean. It's too hot to do the outside of the Living Room windows (they don't all flip open/inside out). They'll wait.

I'm starting the second floor.

I love clean windows. :-)

Not Bad

I got a lot done today and somehow feel relaxed, if tired, for the productivity. Mr Bear, being Mr Bear, is disturbed by my spending my vacation doing house stuff and says 'we should hire someone to do that so you don't have to'. I kept telling him I like doing this stuff. Plus I feel weirdly better when it's done.

Replace light bulb in the recessed light in Family Room
Trim ball topiaries out front
Buy plant for around patio
Plant plants (partly done)
Pick up odds and ends from Megan's
Get hanging mech for collages on wood panels
Get oil changed in my car
Laundry
Food Shopping
Go to the library
Paint Dinning Room
Finish slip covers for family room chairs
Organize 'pantry' down stairs (started :-))
Organize kitchen cabinets
Revolution for dogs (need to do today)
Dogs to groomer's
Clean windows
Clean ledge on big window in foyer
Attach hanging mech to wood panels
Washed Car
Pack for trip (doing now)

I have to put new sheets on the bed, finish packing and vacuum. The directions to the hotel; are printing now. I'm pretty much set to go.

I'm really excited for this little road trip. I love road trips - they're like little adventures. And I've never been to Montreal before. I can't wait to see Mr Bear, I miss him so much. I've sen him one day ober the past 2 weeks (almost).

Well, I'm done journaling for a few days. :-)
