Feet for Miles
Jul. 21st, 2004 07:41 amI spent all of yesterday in the city running through a series of galleries and walking from Times Square to ChinaTown and back again. My feet still hurt, but it was totally worth it.
The weather was perfect and I saw some wonderful art. If you're in New York, I recommend the "Terror Vision" show at EXIT Art. There were some really strong pieces there.
In a bit of odd syncronicity, I wandered into a gallery show of Basquait, Picasso and Bacon. That fit into my recent reading/film watching surprisingly well. Sitting outside, eating my apple it struck me how cool it must be to have a show in a gallery. I mean to see your work in a public context must be really exciting (and nerve wracking).
I bought a great necklace at Girl Props, two Guatemalan shirts and some books. The books were probably not such a great choice (even if they were startlingly cheap) since they were big and hard bound and heavy. I carried them the rest of the way to Chinatown and all the way back to 42nd. I think my arms are longer today.
Dinner was pizza at the pizza place I usually had lunch at when I worked in Soho. The neighborhood has totally changed, but that pizza place is still there. I ate it out on the park bench like I used to and wondered at how different my life is now. Life is one amazing journey if you stop to look back.
Not much else to report, which is good since I'm sort of babbling. I miss Mr Bear and can't wait to see him tomorrow in Montreal. Today, I'm going to the beach, I think.
Things I Am Grateful For
White Pizza
Mr Bear's love of choral music
Having enough
Tessa's snoring this morning
This time off - it's been wonderful
The ability to move forward, even if it's scary
Things I Want Today
New music for the trip
For the beach to not be crowded.
some studio time
