Have a Happy and Safe Holiday Filled with Laughter, Love and Wonder.
Well, this will probably be my last post before Christmas. I finished shopping weeks ago but am still some how burnt out. Too many parties and chorus concerts and the unending hysteria of Mr Bear's last minute shopping and wrapping. He was up late last night wrapping my presents (I wrapped all the others last week). I asked him to come to bed because he's getting sick and i'd rather he be healthy than have my gifts gift wrapped. He, of course, said he couldn't really rest until it was done.
I'm not feeling really Christmasy. This is one of my favorite times of year but I'm not into it. I was a few weeks ago. I think I just need a little down time. That's what I'm hoping this week end is all about. I hope Mr Bear likes his presents. I am still excited to give him his big gift.
After this call I'm going to leave early in order to walk and feed the monsters and pick Mr Bear up for caroling. Caroling is fun - my aunt has it every year (not usually this late in the season). We carol then have dessert and swap ornaments. It's insanely Norman Rockwell but still really fun and endearing. It's one of my family's few holiday traditions and it makes me feel a sense of rightness I'm often missing.
I'll be relieved when it's Christmas morning and we can just enjoy each other and give each other gifts. Mr Bear's family is by us Christmas Eve, so there's dinner and entertaining which is hard when you're already tired. He's getting sick so it's going to be a little rough on him. We'll sleep in Christmas morning. Then it's up north to my family's for lunch and gifts with my Dad's side of the family, then dinner with my Mom's side (basically us kids and spouses, etc).
Hopefully, caroling will put me back in the holiday spirit. If not seeing
xanaducub will. He's coming up for the holidays. :-)
Things I Am Grateful For
Having enough
Mr Bear and his need for this to be "the best Christmas" (it already is because I'm spending it with him)
Family that still acts like family
Friends who feel like family
Things I Want Today
A day with nothing to do followed by 2 days in the studio
Those peppermint cookies with powdered sugar
Hot chocolate with milk and whipped cream
A present I have no anticipation of but really want (they're the best)
