A Whole Lot Of Nothing
Aug. 31st, 2006 09:44 pmI was busy all day but don't feel like I got a lot done. I did manage to get the shower caulked (finally - I had weird drama with the caulking gun...but whatever I figured it out) and started my halloween costume. I also met with the contractor for the wall in the backyard, which took way longer than I had imagined.
It's fun to sew with a pattern. I forgot how much easier it is. :-) Now I just need 45 skull shaped buttons and 2" velvet/velveteen ribbon...and 1/4" cording...
Mr Bear is on a plane on his way home. I am SO HAPPY he'll be home for a while. I miss him so much when he's away - even more so lately because we seem to have so little time together. "Planning season" is almost over so he should start getting home at a "reasonable hour" again soon.
My Mom and my sister, Tracey, are starting a used/vintage clothing business. My Mom is the partner is two new/opening business now. She's like our own investment capitalist suddenly. I want to get the business going by Christmas even if we still haven't secured a space. We can do home parties and start building a client base. Plus, I don't want it to be another thing that almost starts but never happens. I'm weirdly invested in doing it and pretty sure it'll work. I mean I'm pretty sure it can be reasonably profitable - I'm certain we can do the parties well. :-) Plus
My next project is making skulls and arm/leg bones that are cheap, pseudo life size and water resistant enough to be outside. I'm thinking of trying paper mache with a sealant but it seems a little dubious. I'll probably test it first. I think I only need three sets and armatures for the "clothes". I really want to make a ship wreck on the front lawn with a crow's nest but I'm probably over estimating the space....unless I put it on the side lawn...
I'm definitely making a coat and hat to put on the talking skeleton we already have. He's getting a makeover to go from Vegas Funk to Pirate Cool. Otherwise I'm going to ask my Dad for my old chest (as a loan) and maybe do something with maps.
I love Halloween decorating.
