guywithmonsters: (Threaten)
We voted when the polls opened at 6 this morning. Mr Bear has meetings all day and said he "didn't have time to vite before work" and would go after work. he seldom gets hom before 8 PM normally and his big bosses are in for these meetings. I'll probably beat him home and I have class until 10 tonight.

So I told him we'd go early or "it would be a long 4 years for him sleeping the garage if the wrong guy was reelected.". We went early. [eg] This slogan was somehow more amusing to Mr Bear than last year's "a vote for the left is a vote for sex!". Both worked ;-) In my mind, at least, it was a fun echo of the "votes for women" scene in "Mary Poppins".

I'm eager and afraid to see the results. Luckily, I have class tonight and then lab so I won't be home too long before the results start to roll in. It made me happy to hear so many people today talking about voting and how they were suddenly passionate about being a part of the process. I'm not a huge fan of our government but I firmly believe you've got no right to complain if you don't participate. I don't expect everyone to have their congressmen's offices on speed dial (shut up) but I do expect people to vote. It's not a right so much as a privilege our predecessors paid a great deal to give us.

Anyway, enough political angst. I have to write my lab report and study.
