Dinner for 5, The 4, Then...
Aug. 15th, 2004 10:49 amLast night my friends Perk, Drew and Chuckles came over for a "Cleaning out the Freezer" dinner. The "less than fresh but still OK" meal included lasagna, frozen hourdouveres, buffalo winds and danish that Dave and Drew brought. I still have to have them over when we ACTUALLY COOK.
My parents are coming for dinner today. I'm about to go to the supermarket. We're going to grill chicken breast and serve on a bed of green beans, topped with a olive and tomato chutney I pulled form "Gourmet". I may add some diced peppers to the chutney.
My Dad and step mom are going to dog sit while we're in New Orleans so I want to show them where everything is. Oddly, they've only been here two or three times before. My family is usually an "all or nothing" event so this is the first time it'll just be my parents and not my siblings, their spouses and some other relatives. It should be fun.
This morning I realized I probably should "straighten" up the house a bit. My parents are OK with my being gay but I really don't think they need to deal with porn stacked in the TV cabinet in the bedroom, etc. That's more of a parent thing than a straight thing really. I don't think I'd leave porn out if I was straight either. But then I probably would have half the other stuff in the nightstand drawers...
OK, time to go food shopping. The house is neat so I can just make the chutney and get some more time in the studio. I'm almost done with the first "layer" for the collage. I'm eager to start the next, if just to be working in a different color. LOL
