Jude Law, Cookies and the Stripping Santa
Dec. 11th, 2003 03:42 pmWe went to the premiere of "Cold Mountain" on Tuesday. The movie is pretty good, if a little long. But then everything seems long to me on a school night. Mr. Bear loves premieres and is a big star watcher at them. I like seeing movies for free and am amused at the parties for the first 15 minutes or however long it takes to take in the decorations, etc.. I spend the rest of the time watching the climbers and hangers on (who, in a twisted way, are much more entertaining than the stars).
The party was at the NY public Library in Astor Hall (where you walk in). It was pretty cool - great flowers and cool miles furniture in a marble hall with dramatic up lighting in colors. Most of the stars of the movie were there - Jude Law (who is actually hotter in person), Nicole Kidman, Natalie Portman, etc.. It was a nice night out, but I'd rather we just went to dinner. I'm not jaded - I just don't really go into the star watching thing. though I will admit I am all about what they're wearing....
Yesterday I baked cookies and made the unfortunate discovery that our oven's heat is seriously off. Everything on the bottom shelf burns. The next batch will take longer but at least they'll all be presentable. I also made banana pudding for the party. I need to plug the little fridge in the basement in and clean it up. I'll be needing it as we finish prepping.
Tonight Mr. Bear is performing with the NJ Gay Men's Chorus in "Mary Christmas" at the Raven in New Hope. I'll get to see my tear away Santa Suit in action. I'm most excited about this being the last chorus thing for a while. I'm burnt out from it and I don't even have to go to the rehearsals...
I love Christmas but will be happy when it's finally here. The flurry of events, shopping and cooking are overwhelming me this year. It's a lot on top of the move - it's hard to believe I've only lived there under three months. But then it's not when I think about how little of the area I know.
January is looming big for me - I'll hear if I get laid off or not. Either way I need to find a new job. This one is just getting work as the time passes. January just tells me how much money I get to walk away with. I'm staying for my bonus or severance - which ever it is.
