Here's a link to the Firefox News story about the latest LJ drama.

For those keeping score "depression," "bisexuality," "faeries," and "fanfiction" are back in the top interests list. This just might be the technical error they claim it to be, though the lack of a definitive answer as to what that technical issue was leaves room for doubt.

You have probably already heard about the content strike planned for March 21st (see article above if you haven't).

Yes, the adult content flagging was set up ass backwards. There have been some bad decisions made.

I might leave LJ but it's as much due to my changed experience of it as a community as it is to the recent spate of poor business decisions. I'm not promising to leave or even threatening it. I am merely saying that the things changing here aren't all at the the hands of the company owners. For good or for bad or just in the way things change with out really being either.

There is a lot less journaling going on and a lot more "performance". That isn't bad, it's just different. While I find those posts entertaining, I miss the insight into people's lives journaling gives. Over the years Livejournal has changed from a set of journalers interacting to more of an online community with less self reflection, in my view. How the absence of new free accounts will impact is anyone's call but I don't feel very good about it.

What keeps me here? Habit and a handful of wonderful people. For now, they win but I have to admit I'd be in a different head space if the interests list change was permanent or if I knew it was intentional.
